Mummies come alive to transport the audience back 3000 years to meet an adventurous Egyptian boy named Mosi.
Through participatory storytelling, puppetry, mime, masks and music, the audience find out about life in Ancient Egypt such as trade, farming, home life, religion and embalming a mummy.
“The whole experience was extremely enjoyable and educational for children and staff alike”!
Performing in British Schools and Theatre’s since 1990 !
SUMMARY OF THE PLAY:
Travelling over many of Europe’s capital cities an archaeologist arrives in Egypt to start her excavation. She gently brushes away the soil and blows away the sand to discover many clues from the past including an Egyptian necklace with the eye of Ra upon it.
With the building of the great pyramid his father has to leave for Giza. Mosi is left behind to care for the family and farm. The Sun God Ra comes to him and he decides to travel off in search of his father. He trades in the market place then finds a boat to take him down the Nile. Mosi meets the Pharaoh and solves the riddle of building the pyramids. He can see his father and a great feast takes place but the pharaoh dies and Mosi and his father perform the mummification. With the pyramid completed Mosi can enter the World of Men.
We leave Ancient Egypt and return to the present where the mummies say goodbye.
WORKSHOPS
An afternoon History/Drama workshop is the perfect accompaniment to a morning performance. Lasting the full afternoon and able to involve all the children studying the topic, workshops are fun, educational and capture the role-playing enthusiasm of the show.
•We begin with a Q&A session about the show. Expanding on the Legend Theatre actors, company and the history in the storyline, fact or fiction.
•The children are soon up and moving around observing and learning some of the drama and theatre techniques seen in the show. Mime, voice, action-reaction and sound effects. Working solo, paired and in groups.
•The final part of the workshop gives a chance for anything previously made by the class, costumes, props etc to be used in role-play. These props are combined with the companies to bring a period scene to life. Weather it’s a Tudor street scene, Ancient Greek Agora or a Viking settlement the afternoon peaks with the actors returning in character to interact with the groups scenes.
•The cost of a workshop would be £115 ( total for full day including show £315) Additional transport costs may be added depending on location.
